About Arusha City
Arusha is the 'Geneva of Africa', at the foot of Mt Meru. The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) was held here from 1994–2015 and its memorial complex is open to visitors. Arusha also hosts the Arusha Declaration Museum (Nyerere's 1967 socialist vision), the Cultural Heritage Centre (the country's best one-stop craft + art gallery), and the Maasai-market.
