About Saanane Island National Park
Saanane Island became Tanzania's first aquatic national park in 2013. It covers just 0.5 km² in Lake Victoria, right beside Mwanza city. Day visit only: impalas, rock hyraxes, resident crocodiles, and bird-rich shores. A curiosity more than a destination — perfect half-day for travellers overnighting in Mwanza.
