Lake Manyara is the compact 330 km² park that opens the Tanzanian northern circuit. Its soda lake hosts thousands of lesser flamingos and pelicans; the ground-water forest and Marang escarpment shelter one of Africa's rare tree-climbing lion populations. Baboons, elephants, giraffes and over 400 bird species complete the picture.

Highlights

  • Flamingo flocks on the lake
  • Great Rift Valley escarpment views
  • Ground-water forest with giraffes
  • 400+ bird species
