Gombe is the smallest national park in Tanzania (56 km²) but one of the most important primate sites on Earth. Dr Jane Goodall began her pioneering research here in 1960; her Gombe Stream Research Centre still operates today. The Kasekela community — the family Goodall has studied for 65 years — is fully habituated. Boat-access only from Kigoma.
