Mahale is one of the most extraordinary places in Africa — a chain of forested mountains rising to 2,462 m straight out of Lake Tanganyika's white-sand beaches. The M-group of habituated chimps (studied by Japanese primatologists since 1965) is trekked on foot from the beach camp. Unlike gorilla trekking, chimp viewing is unpredictable — they may be 30 minutes or 6 hours into the forest on any given day. You get UNLIMITED tracking days during your stay.
