The Burguret route is the connoisseur's Mt Kenya — a wild forest ascent from Naro Moru town through primary cedar and bamboo forest, past fresh elephant tracks and the chance of the elusive bongo antelope, before breaking out onto the western moorland at Highland Castle.
A forest ranger accompanies trekkers for the first day (wildlife). The trail crosses the high Hausberg Col beneath Batian and Nelion and meets the standard Sirimon traverse near Shipton's Camp.
Route: Nairobi → Burguret Gate (2,600 m) → Highland Castle (3,000 m) → Hausberg Col → Two Tarn Hut (4,490 m) → Point Lenana → Shipton's → Old Moses → Sirimon Gate → Nairobi

Final descent via the Mackinder Valley and Old Moses to Sirimon Gate; transfer to Nairobi.
