The remote northern approach — crosses the mountain from Meru country to Sirimon.
The Timau route ascends Mt Kenya from the arid north — the driest and least-trafficked flank. Six days allow for gradual acclimatisation, a traverse of the upper moorland to Simba Col, and a classic summit of Point Lenana before descending via Shipton's and the Sirimon route.
Only 15 trekkers per year attempt Timau — this is a true wilderness experience and our most remote Mt Kenya itinerary.

Climb onto the northern moorland, following a seldom-used track to Camp 2 (3,750 m).
Cross Simba Col (4,620 m) and descend to Kami Tarn (4,425 m).
Traverse under the Batian/Nelion walls to Two Tarn Hut (4,490 m).
Pre-dawn summit and long descent via Shipton's to Old Moses Camp.
Morning descent and transfer to Nairobi.
