Nyungwe Forest National Park in south-west Rwanda is one of Africa's oldest montane rainforests — 1,020 km² of primary forest with 13 primate species, 1,068 plant species and 310 bird species. Four days lets us do the three signature Nyungwe experiences without rushing: the 70-metre-high canopy walkway suspended over the Igishigishigi gorge (the only canopy walk in East Africa), a dawn chimpanzee tracking excursion in the Cyamudongo sector, and an afternoon with the 400-strong Ruwenzori Colobus superbands — the largest arboreal primate group on Earth.
Bookends the trip with a stop at the Ethnographic Museum in Huye on the way down and the Kigali Genocide Memorial on the way back.

Morning pickup. Drive south to Huye (Butare); 1-hour guided visit to the Ethnographic Museum — Rwanda's finest cultural museum. Continue west to Nyungwe.
Pre-dawn briefing at the park HQ (05:00). Transfer to the Cyamudongo sector. 2–4 hour trek to a habituated chimp group. One hour with them. Afternoon rest.
Igishigishigi canopy walkway (160 m suspension bridge, 70 m above the forest floor). Afternoon: L'Hoest's + Colobus monkey tracking in the Uwinka sector.
Long drive back (6 hours). Afternoon Kigali Genocide Memorial visit, then airport drop-off.
