The Rwenzori range straddles the Uganda–DRC border — UNESCO-listed, with Africa's third-highest peak (Mount Stanley's Margherita, 5,109 m) and the continent's only true glaciers. 9 days is the shortest sensible Central Circuit itinerary including a Margherita summit: the ascent crosses bog, bamboo, Hagenia, and giant-lobelia Afro-alpine zones before reaching permanent glaciers on summit day.
This is a proper alpine climb requiring prior high-altitude experience and glacier-travel skills (or willingness to follow a guide on a short rope). Elena + Stanley glaciers have retreated dramatically but are still present in 2026.
Route: Entebbe → Kasese → Nyakalengija trailhead → Central Circuit → Margherita → return

Cross Freshfield Pass; descend to Guy Yeoman Hut (3,505 m).
Long descent through the Kichuchu Valley back to the trailhead.
Return to Entebbe for evening flight home.
